A Writer

A writer must be more responsible in understanding life and narrating the same in their writing to awaken and inspire minds of the readers. A writer should try to become a good friend and adviser to the readers. It takes effort to portray the reality of life in a softer tone, without unsettling sentiments. Writers will go through the travails of life and still be inspired to put their experience on paper as sane advice.

  3. I read this last night but wanted to come back to it this morning with my rested brain fully functioning. It is a wonderful piece, Amitav! I think of the writer/reader relationship as being an intimate one. There are no layers of influence of other people, as you might have with a play or movie or music. It is just the written word to the reader. It is a huge responsibility and an awesome privilege.

    I love the way you framed this.

    1. Thank you so much, Tanya. Yes, when I see so many irresponsible writing everywhere, it scares me. There is so much aggression and use of harsh words slamming across writings, this is to remind the writers of their contribution and responsibility towards society and literature.

      1. Violent words are a reflection of violent hearts…

        The overflow of the heart is the mouth (or the pen). We can counter it with the overflow of a loving heart. I’m so glad to have people like you to share that adventure with!

      2. Addressing the harsh realities of life with maturity has to be handled by writers with dignity. It’s not about running away from realities but presenting them and making people aware, especially the younger generation of the perils, but in a decent manner.
        It’s always a pleasure to interact with you and share these perspectives.

  4. Very true Amitav, a good writer inspires and motivates, lifts up your spirits, transports you to another world, takes you on a roller coaster ride………. all through his words. A writer positively needs to become a good friend and soul mate of his readers, whom he has the power to influence with his writing.

    1. Thank you, 🙂 yes writers have a responsibility. Portray the truth but also respect the sentiments. It’s a find balance in writing. I fine writing convincing when there’s an underlying responsibility in it and will stand the test of time.
