Cultivate your natural style of writing, a passion, and flair for creativity. Imitating the stylistic approach of writer/writers does not reflect the individual craftsmanship. A writer, poet, and artist of any genre will definitely be inspired by work of greats, but that does not mean they will necessarily imitate their style. To develop a unique style of creativity requires dedication, natural flair, and the maturity to learn. Try not to orchestrate a false persona, as it will weaken the plot and premise of storytelling. Any genre of art is about storytelling and authentic ones survive the onslaught of time and ideological differences. A work that cannot be debated and just presents itself as a mute replica is easily vandalized by scathing criticisms.

I seriously feel, if I am not presenting something original and creative, I stop growing as a writer. Yes, repeating “I’m no copycat” is something of a powerful mantra.

So true.
The maturity to learn, indeed.
I’m no copycat, I’m no copycat, I’m no copycat. Repeat after me….
